A parent asked the question if any homeowner in Hartselle pays at least $800 in property taxes because that is what that parent was paying to send their children out-of-district to school in response to that question: My family purchased a 1,700 square foot home four years ago in Hartselle for $143,000. The home was brand new and we now pay nearly $970 in property taxes as of now. So to answer his question, if anyone owns a home over $140,000, we are all paying well over what he pays to send his children to these schools. .

'Horses run past Rebels
SOUTH BURLINGTON -- Defending Division I high school boys basketball state champion Burlington High School unleashed its potent offense on South Burlington to post a 90-56 win Monday. Senior Tyrone Conley collected 35 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Seahorses ran out to a 42-28 halftime lead. Conley scored 14 points as part of a 33-15 third-period blitz to eliminate any thought of a Rebel comeback. "We're just starting to click and playing well together," said Conley, who has accepted a basketball scholarship to attend the University of New Hampshire. And click they did. Coming off the bench to score in double digits for the Seahorses (5-0) were freshman Joe O'Shea (13 points), sophomore Clancy Rugg (11) and senior Brady Callahan (10).
